Results of the preliminary round of the 2019 ASC Student International Supercomputer Challenge (ASC19) was published on Mar 12, 2019. Three SUSTech student teams obtained the best results ever since SUSTech participated in the competition.

Among the 3 teams, the one led by Year 2016 undergraduate Zhao Jiahua from Dept. of Ocean Science & Engineering was ranked No. 2 in the list of the top 20 teams, entering the final round. Members of the team also include Year 2016 undergraduate Zheng Shuxin from Dept. of Mechanical & Engineering, Year 2016 undergraduates Lyu Junyan and Cheng Pujin from Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, and Year 2017 undergraduate Wang Ziqin. Two other SUSTech teams who participated both received Global Second Prizes.
