Within the power constraint of 3kW, each finalist is required to complete tasks including HPC assembly, High Performance Linpack (HPL) & High Performance Conjugate Gradients (HPCG) benchmark tests, and 5 subject-related problems concerning global climate, fluid mechanics, biological science, materials computation, and artificial intelligence in two days. SUSTech students finished all competitive problems excellently and received the Application Innovation Prize for their outstanding performance in the ShengBTE problem.

In the ASC Development Committee meeting during the finals, Dr. Wang Lianping, director of SUSTech CCSE, delivered his report titled Development and Outlook of Supercomputing at SUSTech.

As one of the Three World-Wide Supercomputer Challenges like ISC and SC, ASC has been held for 8 times. The ASC19 Student Supercomputer Challenge attracted over 300 teams from universities around the world. In addition to Chinese teams, there are also teams from foreign universities who participated the competition, such as the joint team of University of Warsaw & Warsaw University of Technology, as well as those from Friedrich–Alexander University Erlangen–Nürnberg, University of Tartu, Universidad EAFIT, and Sungkyunkwan University.
