On Jun 22, 2019, a group of 6 consisting of Dr. Fan Jing (chief engineer of CCSE), Mr. Xie Zuoyang (engineer of CCSE), and 4 SUSTech ASC student team members visited College of Physics, Chongqing University (CQU). The group had an in-depth communication on topics such as ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge with CQU members including Prof. Han Zhong, associate dean of College of Physics of CQU, Dr. Guo Kunyin, deputy party secretary of College of Computer Science of CQU, Associate Professor Wang Rui, Associate Professor Wu Xiaozhi, Dr. Liu Dajiang, and over 20 CQU students.

At the beginning of the workshop, Prof. Han Zhong delivered a welcome speech, in which he expressed his wish that CQU, a research university with impressive history, and SUSTech, a new and lifeful university, strengthen the communication and cooperation with each other with this workshop as an opportunity.
Dr. Fan Jing gave a talk titled The Development of Supercomputing at SUSTech in the workshop, reporting the detailed condition of SUSTech CCSE in terms of personnel architecture, source of funds, resource allocation scheme and computational recourses.
After that, CQU undergraduates Ge Hujun, Yue Zongxu, and Zhang Junyang presented The Outcome of CQU Team 1 in ASC19, which is followed by a report titled Basic Applications of Programming in Physics Problems by He Jianfeng, a CQU sophomore. SUSTech undergraduates Lyu Junyan, Wang Ziqin, Cheng Pujin, and Zheng Shuxin then gave their talks titled HPC Set Up: Hardware & Software, HPC Application Optimization Practice & ASC Preliminary Proposal Preparation, Deep Learning on HPC: Image Super Resolution, and SWLBM Optimization on Sunway TaihuLight, respectively.

In the end, Dr. Guo Kunyin concluded the workshop with his speech, in which he encouraged students to find their own interests and take an active part in such activities to build up the ASC team of CQU. He also looked forward to more subsequent activities with SUSTech which strengthen the communication between students of the two universities.
Established in Oct 2018, SUSTech CCSE focuses on managing the university’s supercomputer platform, providing services to SUSTech users, promoting users’ ability on using HPC, cultivating talents on HPC administration and application, and increasing its impact. Currently, CCSE manages the university’s two large-scale HPC clusters, namely “Qi-Ming” and “Tai-Yi”, which form the university-wide computing platform with more than 40 thousand cores in total and an overall computational performance exceeding 2.0 PFlops.
